If there is a certain testing one gets for BMS? Maybetoo ruleout certain causes? I just hadyoubasic CBC, Met panel, B-12/Folate.. was wondering if thereis MORE testing for this issue, then what I had done?

Not sure I would do the testing, but wondering just the same :)

If you take a diretic for high blood pressure it can cause a burning tongue.
I happen to read this in a "fasting" article below.

6. Dyazide (diuretic-prescribed for high blood pressure or any condition where it is desirable to eliminate water from the body) - Loss of appetite, drowsiness, lethargy, headache, gastrointestinal upset, cramping and diarrhea, rash, mental confusion, fever, feeling of ill health, inability to achieve or maintain erection in males, bright red tongue, burning inflamed feeling in the tongue, headache, tingling in the toes and fingers, restlessness, anemias or other effects on components of the blood, unusual sensitivity to sunlight, dizziness when rising quickly from a sitting position, muscle spasms, gout, weakness, and blurred vision.

Do you know how they are going to go about the acupuncture? Are they going IN your mouth (for example) versus from the exterior?

Please let us know how this works out for you :)

Missy, there is no test for BMS. There are tests that can be done to rule out other diagnoses (for instance, testing for candidiasis), but a diagnosis of BMS is made by eliminating other conclusions. Unfortunate, but true. As with every other aspect of this awful condition, even the diagnosis is not cut-and-dried.

Good luck. Keep us updated.

Brenda, once upon a time I would not have considered acupuncture. But I know that most here will agree with me that once you get BMS, any reservations you may have had about various treatments go straight out the window, if you think something will help alleviate the pain. So please let us know if this turns out to be helpful to you.

Brenda Walker -
A relative of mine gave me the link of a doctor's radio talk program last year. It is called Ask Dr. Dawn. They had a discussion about EAR accupunture (specifically of the EAR) helping BMS.

Here it is http://www.jivamedia.com/askdrdawn/audioarchives.php
The discussion was on July 21, 2007 program date.

I have thought about trying EAR accupunture, but haven't yet. Let us know how it goes and if it helps!
